To all Corps members
I want to say a very big congratulations on your mobilization for the NYSC scheme. Congratulations on your swearing-in ceremony, now you’re a confirmed ‘OTONDO’ ???
Congratulations on the successful completion of your first degree which qualified you to be a corper in the first place; you came, you saw and you conquered, congratulations. My prayer for you is, this shall be the least of your achievements in Jesus name. You shall go from one rung to another on the ladder of success and the Lord will cause you to soar to the zenith of your dreams.
I just feel like reminding you that, service year is usually an eventful year. Beginning with your orientation course, you’ll see different types of activities, meet different kinds of people, enjoy freedom like you’ve probably never done before and so on.
Please, remember not to forget that your stay on camp will mark the beginning of the death of some destinies and the awakening of some.
Some ladies who came to camp engaged will disengage within this 21 days. Some guys who came celibate to camp will lose their innocence on the open field of your parade ground. Some who came to camp as Christians within this introductory 21 days, will be worse of. Some who came to the camp chaste will leave defiled. The camp commandant and platoon soldiers will have a field’s day of ‘sex’ from ladies this period. Condoms might be distributed especially during ‘Camp Fire Night’.
Some ladies will have a baby as souvenir in addition to their NYSC certificate by the time you’re done. Some who came healthy will leave with the disease(s) that will nearly be a devourer to not just them but, their families too.
There are those who are like predators on assignment. Yes, they are DESTINY PREDATORS! On a mission to harvest glorious futures and turn glories to shame.
Yes, nothing may change physically but spiritually, their victims leave as completely empty and a shadow of themselves.
Dear corper, don’t be deceived by the fact that everyone is wearing white on camp, some are there to soil the actual ‘White garment’ of any and everyone who permits them to.
But, some who came as sinners will leave justified. Some who came as struggling will leave stable. Some who came as young men and women hungry for all of God and will immediately align themselves with people of like minds; will leave service year ablaze for God with ministerial mantles and defined course of purpose. Men and women of grace will be made within this one year of NYSC but sadly, some men and women of grace will be ‘un-made’ and disgraced.
I hate to be a bearer of bad news but, these and many more are the realities of where you are but, I also want to remind you that it is a matter of CHOICE! The choices you make this period, either consciously or unconsciously will determine to a large extent how this crucial one year plays out for you.
By all means, enjoy your service year! Make new friends, visit new places, have fun but; never forget the son / daughter of who you are.

‘Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are’ is an adage I grew up with which I believe to still be very relevant today. Choose your friends, choose your company scrupulously; the Holy Writ says, ”Wise friends make you wise, but you hurt yourself by going around with fools.” Proverbs 13:20
Anyone with the potential of pulling you away from God is not a friend. If he / she is not going your direction in seeking to live a life that is pleasing to God, he’s no friend; do not keep company with them. This is not for you to be isolated but a call to guard you garment so as to keep it unspotted; for the one wearing a white garment doesn’t play with the one carrying a pot of red oil.
”Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3
You carry a glorious destiny, don’t let ‘Portiphar’s wife’ steal it in exchange for temporary pleasure, don’t throw it away on the laps of Delilah or on the lips of strange women; you are worth much more than that!
Lemme also remind you that it’s not compulsory for your ‘status’ to change within this one year, God’s thoughts for you are as far from yours for yourself as the heavens are far from the earth. He is in control of your times and seasons; allow Him to be in charge, don’t take his job.
Matter-of-fact, service year is a time to grow deep spiritual roots because, whether you realize it or not, you are becoming responsible! ??
Right after service year, some of you will dive right into really demanding jobs, some into further studies, some into marriage, some ministerial works, etc your days of ‘having all the time to yourself’ are sadly, over! You’ll then be expected to work, make money, and take up some responsibilities (there are exceptions tho) I can tell you, life after service can be really challenging so, I beg you to concentrate on what really matters now. Sow prayers ahead of you, spend quality time to soak yourself in God’s word, discover purpose, read books, grow, develop, bury yourself in God’s service, gather enough victuals because the journey ahead is far.
I wish you all the best of your service year and I pray that you come out better than you went in. Bigger, better and greater you in all ramifications in Jesus name. May the Lord connect you with men and women of like passion! See you at the top! Stay Blessed.
